This section of the TCH is a congested area with known major safety issues related to passing. In particular, the westbound/southbound traffic demonstrates high-risk passing behavior at the Illecillewaet curve, which has resulted in multiple incidents.

MacKay Contracting was selected by CP Rail to construct the Red Deer Siding as part of the Red Deer Terminal Capacity Expansion.

MacKay was awarded the TCH Hwy. #1 Beaver Valley Ponding Phase 2, Mounds Avalanche Berm project in July 2018.

MacKay was awarded the TCH Hwy. #1 Donald to Forde Station Road project in December 2017.

Project Description The 2nd Street South Upgrades Project entailed 11 blocks of replacing and upgrading deep utilities including water, storm and sanitary lines as well as road reconstruction and paving.The project was located in downtown Cranbrook on a busy thoroughfare and had an aggressive schedule.
